Springtime in Charleston

Spring has officially arrived in Charleston and along with some clouds of pollen comes a renewed sense of inspiration! The muted colors of the marshes are waking up and the browns are giving way to vibrant greens. The longer days are stretching the golden hour into something magical!

For a painter, the extra daylight means more time to study the shifting light offering a perfect opportunity to observe the transition of warm hues across the sky. Every year, Charleston’s spring reminds me why I love painting its landscapes. The way the marshes breathe back to life, the golden reflections in the water, and the way a single cloud can transform the mood of a piece.

With my upcoming "Marsh Madness" exhibit in April, I’m weaving these colors and moods into my new paintings. If you’re in Charleston, come experience them for yourself at my opening reception on April 4 from 5-8 PM at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery. Come say hello, enjoy light refreshments and let’s celebrate spring, the beauty of the marshes, and the importance of protecting them!
