Summer Studio Update

"Paige the Turtle"
The summer heat has brought a slower rhythm to my painting practice. While I haven't been painting as much, there's still plenty brewing in the studio. This spring, I attended the Oil Painters of America Conference in Bradenton, Florida - an inspiring few days surrounded by talented artists and great demonstrations that sparked new ideas and techniques.
On the personal side, it’s been a season of sweet milestones—my granddaughter is about to turn one, and a grandson will be joining us by year’s end! Inspired by them, I’ve started painting some whimsical Lowcountry scenes, including a marsh turtle named "Paige" reading to other critters by the water. These playful pieces have been a fun detour from my usual work.
With fall on the horizon, I’m looking forward to getting back into the studio more consistently, and seeing where all this inspiration leads.
